In the summer of 1898 the United States defeated Spain with the help of the Filipinos who helped the States to victory by rebelling. But these rebelling Filipinos assumed when the war was over the U.S. army would leave. But when they had defeated Spain America decided to keep part of the land for better Military and economic purposes. But the anti-imperialist league argued over against that idea. President McKinley declared said that it was Americas job to make sure the Filipinos were civilized and Christianized.
