Exodusters |
|
With all the settlers were free African Americans. An African American migration was lead from the south in the “Exodus of 1879” lead by Benjamin “pap” Singleton. As they were comparing themselves to the Jews from Egypt, they were known as the Exodusters. Some of these people succeeded in farming in Kanas or Nebraska, but other adapted to cities like Topeka and Kansas City. Even though they fled the south, they still experienced discrimination. |
