Shame of the Cities

The place was New York City. The date was March 26, 1911. Smoke and flames were streaming in and out of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory. The building was 10 stories. Workers and young women began jumping off the building as the flames began to cover the building. At the end 146 of the 500 workers had died from either getting burned or jumping off the building to their death. This became what is now known as The Triangle Fire. It symbolizes the difference between business lives and government lives of ordinary workers.
