Educational Reform

In the 1800s the American school was not thought of very highly. The teachers were very strict and has strict rules. They taught a lesson that the class had to write down and completely memorize. The students were not allowed to move or talk. Their desks were also bolted to the floor. AT this time there were very few Americans that new had to read and write and progressive reformers wanted more Americans to have a basic education. There was then a business-sponsored education called the “industrial education”
