Farmers needed money because costs for growing and shipping were raising. Reasons for the raise: Railroad companies took advantage of farms and rose the price, and industrialization, farmers couldn’t afford machines for farming. Another reason was that the price to sell crops for fell. One person named Oliver Kelley founded the Grange Movement. It allowed farmers to discuss issues that involved them. They also worked together to lower prices and buy machinery. Next I’ll tell you about the Populist Party. |
