The 4th Grade Class have been studying the California Gold Rush and the 49ers. Last week they had the opportunity to experience gold fever for themselves. They came ready to mine, dressed and equipped with pans, longtoms, and shovels. They dug through the sand seeking to find gold. Three lucky miners stumbled upon "mother loads". Each time a motherload was found, the students erupted in a frenzy of excitement.

"There's gold in them thar hills".
