4th Graders Tour Redlands

On Friday, January 18, the RCS fourth grade classes went on the Tour of Redlands.  This tour is given to all 4th grade classes in Redlands.  There were many exciting things to see and hear about on the tour.  In 1913, the city of Redlands had the most millionaires per capita.  We learned this while we were touring Kimberley Crest Mansion.  We also toured the Lincoln Shrine, Smiley Library, Sylvan Park, and the Assistencia of San Gabriel Mission.

The local citrus industry began with the navel orange in 1870.  Back in the 1800’s and early to mid 1900’s there were over two dozen packing houses in Redlands, now there is only one.
George Hinkley painted the white line which divided lanes.  Without this great discovery could you imagine what traffic would be like?
There are so many interesting facts about Redlands that I could write a book about the unique and wonderful history. When you are in 4th grade you too will have the privilege of taking the Tour of Redlands.
