EARLY LIFE |
|
First, I lived in Kansas when I was 4 and then moved to the big woods. When I lived in Kansas I rode my bulldog. Then when I moved to the big woods I learned how to sew. I sewed mittens for baby Carry to keep her warm in the winter. I lived with my cousins for three years, then my cousins and I got scarlet fever but we got better. When we got better my family and I moved again. In 1877 I turned 14 and took a job at a hotel where I cooked, babysat. And made beds. I got 50 cents a week. |
